“Starts with us” is one of the most vulnerable and honest songs I've ever written. I named it "Starts with us" after the last lyric in the song "even when it starts with us, it's always gonna end with her". This lyric was just a tragic realisation of always being the second choice. I wrote this song during a time I was trying to simplify a complicated situation I had been put in. I loved how simple but (hopefully) effective the production turned out to be and I really hope this song resonates with you in however way you understand it.
