THE STONE ROSES

BIO

Formed at the tail-end of 1984 by five native Mancunians, The Stone Roses boasted an unprecedented flurry of early activity with gigs at the Marquee, Fulham Greyhound, Ad Lib (Kensington) and an appearance at Pete Townsend’s Anti-Heroin benefit at London’s Moonlight Club. The latter culminated in drummer Reni ‘jamming’ with Townsend and guests for ‘I Can’t Explain’ and ‘Substitute’.

Major music press interviews and reviews followed, with further gigs at Dingwalls and persistent airplay on Manchester’s Piccadilly Radio. In December 86, The Stone Roses signed to Revolver Records and recorded a new single titled ‘Sally Cinnamon’, released May 1987 on the company’s Black Label.
