Born Jan 13 1968 in Edgbaston, Birmingham, König studied briefly at Goldsmiths University, London before resuming his studies at Birmingham Conservatoire. This led to further studies abroad, at the Julia Crane School Of Music, in New York.
He first came to national prominence as part of Jazz legend Andy Hamilton’s band. Following from this, he engaged in performances with Dave Murray, John Hicks, Nana Tisboe, Sonny Bradshaw, Alec Dankworth, Brain Dee, Jean Tousaint, and Winston Clifford. These allowed him to gain valuable experience in the world of Jazz.
Upon completion of his studies, he undertook studio work in Manchester for pop artists; Andrew Kumar (The Beautiful South), Cleopatra, Fyzza Truce.
This experience led to Konig’s working as a session musician with Virgin Records. It was in this time that he recorded and performed with Day One on British and European tours. Seen Nationally and Internationally on television and MTV. He has also toured with the following bands. Gomez, Basement Jaxx, Muse, Hobotalk, The Flaming Lips, Pavement, Everlast and LSK.
New Leaf was Konig’s first solo venture.
