Gypsy Pistoleros are certainly one of the most musically unique bands that have been released through Heavy Metal Records. They are perhaps the only band to ever have been genre defined as "Flamenco-Sleaze-Glam," and while their self proclaimed status as the greatest band of their style can't be argued simply because they're the only band of their style, it's impossible to imagine anyone doing it better than the originators.
According to their website, the band were formed somewhere between Barcelona, Spain, and Birmingham, UK. The band have had various lineups with founder members Lee (vocals) and Iggie (guitars) Pistolero being consistent throughout the band's history (except for a short period where Lee was absent.) At the time of their involvement with Heavy Metal Records, the band's rhythm section was made up of Jeff Williams and Kenny K Doll.
Gypsy Pistoleros came to Heavy Metal Records in 2012 on the back of a string of successful releases to create a compilation of their greatest hits, an album that would sum up all the reasons people across the world have fallen in love with the band. "Forever Wild, Beautiful & Damned" featured a selection of those moments throughout the band's history when the flamenco and glam rock stylings had worked together best, and of course it had to feature the band's infamous cover of "Livin' La Vida Loca," arguably better than the original.
Gypsy Pistoleros haven't released any more music since this album with Heavy Metal Records: there have been rumours as to a new album, and the tagline "Greatest Hits Vol. 1" on "Forever Wild, Beautiful & Damned" suggests that they were by no means finished. While this album would have been an excellent last word on the band's history, there are certainly a lot of people who would be happy to hear of new material from them: certainly a band to keep an eye out for!
