Diamond Head

Diamond Head

Diamond Head formed in 1986 in Stourbridge, England: the original lineup consisted of Brian Tatler (Guitar); Duncan Scott (Drums); Sean Harris (Vocals); and Colin Kimberly (Bass.) The band released three studio albums which would shape the future of Heavy Metal, particularly the NWOBHM (New Wave Of British Heavy Metal) movement. They have been cited as an influence by acts such as Metallica and Megadeth, with Metallica having performed covers of many of the band's songs, both live and on tape. While they didn't initially see the success they deserved, they more than made up for this in later years, and are still now as relevant as ever.

Diamond Head's involvement with the label began with the compilation album "Behold the Beginning," released on Heavy Metal Records in 1986, and celebrating the rise of Diamond Head as a force to be reckoned with. Such was the strength of the the band's back catalogue that another compilation was merited, and so the following year, FM-Revolver Records released "Am I Evil?" The latter compilation is named for perhaps the band's most well known song, the one that people would know without necessarily knowing that it is Diamond Head, such was their impact.

Thankfully, Diamond Head are still active now, having managed to survive the ups and downs of the music industry that would (and have) destroyed lesser bands. The only original member of the band still playing with them is Brian Tatler: the other current members are: Karl Wilcox (Drums); Andy "Abbz" Abberly (Rhythm Guitar); Rasmus Bom Anderson (Vocals); and Dean Ashton (Bass Guitar.) The release of a new album in 2016 proved to critics and doubters that the band are by no means past their best, and that we may have many more interesting things to see from them in the future!
