CEO Peter Marks behind the drums -- all proceeds from sales go to Mencap and ENABLE Scotland

Drumming up support for charity single

A keen drummer, The Co-operative Group Chief Executive, Peter Marks, thought it would be a fantastic idea to get a band together, named Angel Square. Their charity single is "Greatest Day" by fellow Manchester based band Take That and was released to coincide with their debut gig on the 9th of December.

Revolver's sister organisation Revolver Co-operative (an IPS Mutual) was given assistance in its creation by The Co-operative, so we're delighted to be able to help Angel Square with the distribution and promotion of their charity single. Help us and the group reach the £5m target and download the single now! It's already available from iTunes for 79p as well as eMusic, Deezer and Play.com -- dozens more digital music stores being added very soon. For download and social media links, visit the dedicated CharitySingle.co.uk Angel Square microsite.

In the words of Peter Marks: "We're really excited about releasing our charity single for Christmas. It really is fantastic and I would encourage everyone to download the single and see if we can give the X Factor a run for their money!"

100% of revenue from sales to benefit Mencap
Posted by christopher on 2-12-2011 12:31 pm

Our sister company Revolver World normally produces products that then go on sale in The Co-operative's supermarkets. This time however, we found that we could help The Co-operative bring one of their projects from concept to reality!

The Co-op's project? A charity single, performed by a supergroup of employees at Co-op Group HQ. We're delighted to announce that all proceeds from sales will be passed to Mencap, to help further their essential work supporting those with a learning disability along with their families and carers.

More information will be released next week; visit the Revolver World site to read more.

A litle history about Revolver...

The birth of Revolver Records can be traced back to 1982, having started as an offshoot from its sister label Heavy Metal Records (which itself began in 1979). Since then, Revolver has been at the forefront of new music, signing acts such as The Stone Roses & Jane's Addiction. Today, Revolver Records operates alongside Heavy Metal Records as a fully-fledged label in its own right, releasing new artists, sourcing and promoting new talent from the Midlands, the UK and further afield. We're also behind some exciting new projects, including a new project called Revolver Digital, offering services and opportunities for artists wishing to focus on their online strategy and get their music online and available to buy as soon as possible!

We're also rolling out our new Fairtrade accredited, organic cotton garments through our sister company Revolver World. Look out for our shirts in all Mid-Counties Co-Ops, with a nationwide launch imminent!

Even with the raft of innovative new services and products we're launching, we are still seeking to ensure that Revolver continues to bring the world the best new musical acts around whilst continuing to challenge people's perceptions of indie labels. Rest assured that even while we're adding more and more of our catalogue to the site, we'll still be doing what we do best - releasing great music, and this site's where you'll hear it first.

It's an underappreciated fact here at Revolver that our sister label, Heavy Metal Records, started off first!
